2004 seems like such a long time ago. When Escape from Butcher's Bay was released everyone had such high hopes for it, and without question it delivered. It was a very sad to find that my brand new xbox 360 would not play the game but a remake was on the way.

Finally after long delay the game has been released. Butcher's Bay was a very beautifully done. Same slime and grime that you would find in a triple max slam. Some very minor changes with the game but nothing that effects the script of the game.

Once Butcher's bay is behind the ships engines it is time to begin the Dark Athena arc, which is very appealing to eyes. Many multiplayer modes are sure to keep you busy when you don't feel like shoving a screwdriver into an inmate's jugular.

yes, riddick is back, and while he's still busy being morally obscure, im gonna go ahead and hit up the pro's and cons of BOTH butcher bay AND dark athena.

PROS:
1.graphics: on both games theyr decent. not exactly next gen, but not exactly last gen either.
2.combo pack: its really 2 games in 1 that end up feeling like one game. both games only play around 5 or 6 hours each, but combined its a solid 12 hours of gameplay. i realy like the fact that they included butcher bay in this. i was aware of its huge fan following due to it being one of the best xbox games in the last gen, but i had never played it untill now.
3.gameplay.its a fun system, but its not meant to be a shooter. both games shine when you use knives for stealth kills. the animations give an odd sense of power thats sadistically enjoyable.

CONS:
1.story: its....irrelevant to the games, especially dark athena. the only point of the stories are really 1:to show how riddick got his eyes shined, and 2:to let you know where to go next to kill people.i would have hoped that the story at the end of dark athena would have lead to the opening of Pitch Black...but SPOILER...,it doesnt.
2.Multiplayer.only xbox live, and to be honest, this isnt an xbox live game. it would be much better(considering the level design)if it were left to four player splitscreen matches with the option xbox live included.the overall gameplay of Pitch Black is also annoying.the idea is one person is riddick and the others try to kill him,but there is no stealth and each round usually last 25 seconds at best.
3.riddick himself.he cant decide if hes a killer or a softie, and it gets anoying.

in the end, this is a good game, but it requires a certain taste.i could easily understand why some may not like it just because of the feel of the game. either way,i give it a solid 7 outa 10.i'd like to see a redesigned sequel, though.
