I read the 2 bad reviews for game and I just have say they have no business playing chess. Chess is a game of pure skill and it's clear those 2 don't have a clue how chess is played I bet they were trying to play checkers

Chess master is a great game for any one who wants to learn how to play chess.
I was a real novice until I play Chess master the computer does explain how to play and how each piece moves.
The bad side is the can seem to be a little kiddish at first and making a move can be a little difficult.
Chess master does earn a 7 out of 10.

What Are These People Talking About?

I learned how to play chess back in high school from people who occasionally tried to bend or make up rules when I was doing too good. The problem was we didn't have an official rule book to tell us which moves were really and when you could actually use them. When I owned this game (and it helps to have the manual) not only does it help you to play chess it helps you play chess better.

It has a "Chess School" that tutors you on how to play chess and keeps track of your progress. When you play against the computer it gives you all the various modes of play and scores your ability so you know where you rank "in the world". If you make a mistake it will tell you why (if you enable the function) and tell you what would have been a better move in that situation.

My niece and both of my kids learned how to play chess from playing this game without any instruction from me so anyone that says the game doesn't show you how to play chess either can't read a menu screen or are just really lazy and didn't bother to check the game out fully because there really is to much to learn about chess and the lessons do tend to get really, really long and there are tons of them so you have to be pretty dedicated to become a grandmaster to go through them all.

It took me nearly 2 years to get good enough to beat the chessmaster and I still had to get help with 2 moves from the computer to do it... 2 moves, that should tell you how good a teacher this game is and how hard it is to know everything about chess when moving 2 pieces makes the difference between victory and defeat.

Gamefly didn't exist when I bought this game and with all the late fees I would have had to pay I would have bought this game about 68 times if I have rented it then while people here get one flat fee for the month and rent like 5 games at a time so it you really want to learn to play chess now would be the time.
