Celebrities can be used to sell a game - most notably a sports game.
John Madden gets lots of his Madden NFL games into people's homes, Tiger Woods has success with his golfing games.
But Celebrity Sports Showdown isn't in that league. It's not even close.
First off, we get celebrities I really don't care much about: Kristi Yamaguchi, Nelly Furtado, Keith Oberman and others like them.
I can overlook that shortcoming if the mini games in this collection were halfway good. Most are not.
The Badminton and Volleyball suffer from poor hit detection, the Mountain Climbing is an exercise in boredom, and Dodgeball has stiff controls.
Out of the twelve, I found only two that I would play more than twice - Curling and Skiing. They're the only ones with good controls and some excitement.
Two out of twelve isn't good enough; the Wii is supersaturated with many, many mini game compilations, and there are a few much better than this game (Rayman Raving Rabbids series, WiiSports, Mario Party franchise).
Celebrity Sports Showdown doesn't separate itself from those basic mini game compilations. SKIP IT.
