In a nutshell, there's a dude and a chick that are together. Then there is another chick that seduces the dude. Come to find out, the dude cheats on his girlfriend. Now there is this delema of him correctinng what he has done. I wount explain too much so it wount spoil it for you, but afterwards he starts getting these nightmares every night that are actually trials to reach his salvation. In the nightmares he is with a bunch of others and they are all projected as sheep that are all trying to eacape because they have been cursed.
The movie aspect of it, that must have been at least half of the game, was a great change of pace that delivered very well on many levels. It kept me intreagued with good voice acting, above average animations, comepelling characters, and deliverd a good amount of twists to the story. There were a few parts in the character interactions though that were a little bit offputting, like I didnt think some reactions were realistic and seemed cartoony. Also there was this karma or conscience meter that may alter you outcome but im not sure. Adding to that, i found the way that you communicate via text message to the two chicks worked really well.
On the gaming side, it was like I was climbing up a bunch of oversized rubix cubes or jinga towers, and that each of these towers would have unique obsticles to work with or overcome to reach the top. Overall, good character control feedback, good variation of levels and bosses that increase in diffeculty as you progress, good checkpoint placement, but i did feel that there were far to many retry pillows distributed throughout the levels. I can remember when got to the final level in the game i had like 94 retry's, it was insane.
Besides the feeling that they were laying on the whole religous theme way to thick and that the questions the guy would ask you at confessional were so black and white and biased, i would give this game a solid 9.25.
Just completed it last night. Game clock was ~14 hours. Played on "Easy", so can't imagine what it's like on the harder levels (which you need to play to unlock some of the bonus content).
Gameplay as no doubt discussed elsewhere, is in two forms. One, a rather boring RPG where you chat to people in the bar a lot, provides the storyline, and a rest to your twitch fingers... as the action part of the game (which takes place in the protagonist's dreams) is a race to the top of block based towers, and is an action/puzzle game of the highest calibre (and, on some levels highest difficulty).
Most of the levels have no doubt many solutions as you can simply react to what the game throws in front of you, but there are a few levels, or a few parts of levels, that have only one unique solution... expect to get bogged down in these sections.
Also, there is a degree of randomness in some later levels, caused by "mystery blocks", that can sometimes make the same puzzle much easier/harder than your last attempt. Personally I'm not sure if this game mechanic works.
Final note for parents - though there is no direct nudity, the anime is rather raunchy, and there are many F-bombs etc in the cut-scenes.
