Oh god nothing about this game was good... They didnt even upgrade any of the graphics. The controls felt alien and none of the nostalgia was there just pure and simple frustration. Sorry Capcom but you really missed the mark with this one...

Yay
-Nice selection of games. Captain Commando, Final Fight...even Black Tiger!
-Unlockable extras give it that "Special Edition DVD" feel
-Easy to pick up and play. No real time investment needed.
-Captain Commando's flamethrower trick still works!

Eh
-Selection of games on PS2 is different that PSP. Where's Gunsmoke? Or on PS2, where's Black Tiger?
-After you've beaten the beatable games, then what? Review extras for a few minutes?

Boo
-Controls are a bit loose (especially playing Strider and Bionic Commando).
-Realization that NES versions of Strider and Bionic Commando are (were) better than their coin-op counterparts.
-Realization that only three of the games were really worth playing without thinking "I have GTA: Liberty City, a PS2 (etc.)...why am I playing this?" Whatever Capcom couldn't develop into a full franchise, they swept it here.
-Basically, if a friend asked me "Did you check out the Capcom Classics?" I'd reply, "Yeah, I did". End of story.

Nostalgia hits hard, but you recover pretty quick.

This compilation sparked three emotions in me while I was playing. Now I know everyone' s different, but I think I can sum up the experience for the vast majority of gamers.

It starts off with a heavy hit of nostalgia.
You think, "Man I used to love these games when I was a kid...Awesome!".

Then about 2 hours in, the next feeling comes on.

Appreciation. Appreciation for the advances in our favorite pastime. While these games were great in their time, they have not aged well and can't hold a candle to the Oblivions, Ninja Gaidens, and Half Life 2's of today.

Now the 3rd feeling may differ from person to person, but mine was that of disgust.
Not because the games aren't fun, because most of them are for a short time, but because I realized that I spent 250 dollars on my PSP to play 16-20 year old games.

Ok, so maybe I didn't buy the PSP for this compilation, but I have yet to play a game on it worth owning...But that has nothing to do with this review.

Bottom line: If you're reading this review, chances are you've already been bitten by the nostalgia bug, and the only way to get rid of the need to relive those good old days, before work, kids, and mortgage payments, is to play this game.

So rent it, play it, get it out of your system and go back to your XBOX, Playstation 2, Gamecube or 360 with a renewed love for the games of today.
