Why spoil a good thing? The fact that the developers used the COD 4 engine was a very smart move. The balance in the controls and visual presentation is near perfect. Now only if they can create a proper cover system and it will be perfect.
Set back in WWII, like COD 4, we get to play as 2 soldiers. This time the US side is in the pacific fighting the Japanese, and the Russians pushing back the Germans. Fighting is constant and requires you to think quick and be on your toes, especially in the USA missions. I must say I loved using the flamethrower! If you played COD 4, then you know how smooth the controls were and how great the graphics looked. Nothing has changed this time around except for location. Solo mode can be finished in an after noon, but the multi-player has been improved on with more depth in the co-op modes. When you beat the game, you get zombie mode; a really fun mode where the object of the game is to survive for as long as possible against hordes of zombies. Practice your head shots because you will need it for that mode. If only all FPSs were this great!

After finishing COD WaW in 1 night id have to say that it is about what i expected. Proficient graphics, good sound, and high production values are there. However, nothing about the game really excited me in the same way that call of duty 4 did. With the exception of a couple of missions it just all felt like an expansion pack to the previous WW2 entries in the franchise. As a side note I felt some of the intro videos to the mission were in fairly bad taste. To use footage of real executions for entertainment value is highly questionable. I'm surprised that there isn't much of an uproar about it. 7/10

I was pleasantly surprised when I started playing COD:WAW. You can tell right away that you are back in the WWII setting but if you're playing this game I hope you were prepared for that!

Anyway, the controls are just as good as COD4 first of all (pretty much identical actually). Personally I think that was the main thing that set COD4 apart so this is a very good start in my opinion. The story really moves quickly (and is kind of short to be honest). It is full of action from start to finish. There are a few missions that are a bit reminiscent of COD4 but you'll see when you get there.

You really don't get to know the characters in this game as well as COD4 and that is really unfortunate to me. The story in COD4 was awesome and the end was absolutely mind blowing. I was actually upset about what happened to all my boys! You really don't get anything close to that from the story in WAW. It's where this game lacks the most.

The multiplayer is just about perfect. They have added 10 more levels and adjusted the perks a bit. It feels almost exactly like COD4 with one big exception: Some maps let you drive tanks! That can be pretty fun!

There is a special version of TDM for noobs and low level players that locks out at level 8. It's a good way to get your feet wet. The one thing I don't like about it is that you can only play Team Death Match or Free For All until level 14. Luckily the first few levels move along quickly.

Overall this game is really good. If you like FPS and some good online multiplayer, there's really no reason to not give this game a fair shot. It's not COD4! Really though, it's about as good as it could be given the WWII time frame. I'm loving it so far and I haven't even had a chance to check out the co-op yet!
