The single player campaign is one the best I have played with the exception of some frame rate problems.I just cant get into the multiplayer,it looks cartoonish and different from the campaign to me.Imo IW MW2 multiplayer is superior, even with the boosters, hackers and knife monkeys.Im on the fence about buying it because of the dislike for the multiplayer so Im giving it an 8 for the single player campaign.

Let me say I had high hopes going into Black Ops even though I'm in the camp of players who prefers Infinity Wards Call of Duty installments, but was willing to give treyarch the benefit of doubt. Thing is especially when it comes to the campaign Black Ops falls a bit short. Love the mature and darker '60s era story and the gore such as limbs being blown off, but a majority of the game is straight up corridors whether inside or trenches which makes the game a very taxing and unfairly cheap experience especially on veteran and I've beaten several COD titles on Veteran so trust me it's level design thats the villan here. Multiplayer is mostly the same as Modern Warfare 2, and seems to have taken a few cues in level progression and rewards from Halo: Reach. It's just the maps are a bit smallish if you ask me, and the designs aren't as solid as MW2. In typical fashion Black Ops is a reasonable substitute but seems to lack that certain something from Infinity Ward's efforts. Sadly Infinity Ward has been discharged from the series... This is definitely Treyarch's best stab at the series yet, but personally I think I'm gonna stick with Halo: Reach for my multiplayer needs or Goldeneye on the Wii for that matter...
We all know black ops only did so good because it was using the call of duty name but the game lacks what MW2 made so great. The knifing system is screwed up and im not talking about commando not being in there. The maps are cool but forgettable, really people only like to play nuketown and that's because they like sittin in corners and camping. The killstreaks are a joke, back in the days of MW2 you actually had to hide from helicopters because they would destroy you in the open, but now you can pretty much run around with a helicopter outside and not worry about be shredded, the killstreaks in a way are boring, the rc car is cool until you figure out that it's pretty stupid killstreak that leaves you vulnerable for way too long. Napalm strike is pretty cool because it can burn your enemies down after exploding and the fire sits their for about 15 seconds. Other than that black ops is a camp fest and that's alot to say considering this is call of duty but everyone knows you're going to get camped all day when you have zero respawn time. MW2 has way better maps hands down. I was expecting alot from Call of Duty: Black ops because it was riding off the success of MW2, in reality though this game is alot like World at War with some MW2 guns mixed in... The controls are the same as all other call of duties except for the knifing ability it's kind of a joke because you miss so many knifes you should of had but the single player campaign is by the far the best in the series to date but does not have co op? come on now it's 2010 and no co op? The cool thing they added was the ability for two players or more to play in multiplayer off one xbox. When you prestiege you lose all your money etc.. so it's best u spend it all before you do so. They also added zombies which is pretty much like Firefight with halo. You sit their rebuild ur fort and fight zombies wave after wave until you're overrun. Multiplayer load times are such a joke and is very buggy.. Still not fixed.
