I've never bothered to review a game before, but after slogging my way through half the campaign on yet another COD game I couldn't help myself.
Let's get the stuff you already know out of the way, it plays and looks like every iteration of this game, no surprise there. I've always liked the tight, fast controls for these games, but beyond that, I just don't care anymore.
So, with another COD game of course comes another story of some rogue terrorist trying to blow up the planet. yawn, wake me up when it's time to shoot something. This is the same game you've played every year for the past, what, 5? 6 years?
There is an addition of several tactical levels too where you control drones, troops, turrets, etc. You can issue orders from a sort of overview screen and drop into the action yourself at any time. I have to commend them for at least trying to put something else in there, I can't imagine that team not being sick to death of making the same exact game every year.
They just churn out the same game every year with a different title, it's not worth the time or effort.
I'm so glad I rented this game first. I almost bought it for the sole purpose of playing multiplayer with my friends, then I remembered last year when I got MW3 and only played it for a month before getting bored... and the year before that with Black Ops... and before that with MW2.. etc. Activision, I know it's your golden goose but have some dignity and stop beating the horse corpse that is Call of Duty please. I know there's a multitude of ravenous fanboys that would tear me apart for saying anything against it, I know it was fun, Zombies was fun, but it hasn't changed in years. You could have saved yourself a pile of money by just sticking with the same COD game for two or, god forbid, even three years. What's changed? I mean really changed, they make little tweaks and additions here and there but it's the same exact game.
