Call of Duty Black Ops II has its ups and downs. The new gadgets in the campaign are fun and easy to use, but get taken from you as almost as fast as you get them. The best part about this game is the campaign, which is fun, engaging, and most of all, changeable. You can choose your path in this game, making replays fun. This is also the first game in the Call of Duty series to allow us to change our loadout for the campaign.
The multiplier is the 2nd worse in the series, beat only by Call of Duty MW3. It is linear and repetitive, stripping 90% of the fun away after you play the first match. The unlocks come rapidly, so you rarely stick to a certain gun.
Overall, the respective game-play and the fun and engaging story mode made me give Call of Duty Black Ops II a 6/10
Exactly what you expect of another installment of the Call of Duty series. Very linear, bland single player and coop. Zombies is alright, at best. I did enjoy the couple of new features they had, such as the bus in the first zombie level. Multiplayer is, like the title suggests, exactly what you think it's gonna be. Full of power hungry tweens or twenty-somethings with too much time to kill.
I have played quite a few of the COD games, and have usually always been pleased. The first Black Ops game started to change my mind a bit. This one cemented my languishing opinion of the series. Usually I can brush first impressions aside because at least one aspect is good if one is bad, but that was not the case here. Story line is fragmented and uninteresting. Character movement and shooting are unrealistic and over-accelerated. Graphics were good when they worked, but almost every mission looked like it lacked rendering and was dark green - I assume this might be an update I'm missing though. However, even if the graphics issues can be explained, that doesn't make up for the fact that this game was nothing new in the inflated realm of shooters. Perhaps it's because I just got done playing Far Cry 3; that might explain why I thought this game sucked - FC3 was a far superior shooter.
