Let's face it, fishing for monster-sized fish is just plain fun! Having said that, there are a few things I would have done to improve this game. First of all, when your lure is in the water, you can see HUGE fish swimming near the bottom of certain lakes. Unfortunately, the game never offers you lures that will drop below 25 feet, down to where the big boys are! Now, to be fair, I did manage to land a largemouth that topped out at just over 50 pounds, which in real life would have been both exhilarating and a little scary! But I never even got to SEE a channel catfish, which there are lures for, but they just never seem to show up! I was a little irritated by the "during-the-reel-in" challenges, such as the "Smash Hit", the "Fish Hero", the "Time Warp", and the "Old Sage". While it was fun at first to try to match the sequence of button pushes within the set time limit, after awhile, it just became monotonous. Especially, for some reason, while trying to reel in spotted bass, which aren't even the toughest fighters in the game. While trying to reel them in, the button-push sequences seemed to pop up one after another, and if you waded through them all, the fish would escape at the side of the boat about 3 times out of 5! This seemed strange to me, coming from a game called "Monster Bass", and not "Spotted Bass Challenge". Tounaments could have been much more challenging, I completed the Easy, Normal, and Hard trophies all in the first day of play! How to improve? Each lure should have to be presented differently to attract the fish you're after. You should need different lures for different species of fish, not just different sizes and colors of the same lures. Get rid of the button sequence bit, and concentrate on fishing. Offer us lures that go to all depths, so we can go after the lunkers! More tournaments, more trophies, more challenges. Finally, our fishermen(and women) should react differently to each fish they catch. After all, fishing is supposed to be fun!
