I am not sure what I expected out of this game, or possibly I am simply too easily distracted nowadays to fully appreciate this game, but I just found CSI: Hard Evidence to be ponderous, dull, slow-moving and not much fun. Where the television show moves at a quick pace and the action does as well, the game just does not translate as well. It really feels like I am at work, versus enjoying some new, cool experience. I am going to give it a few months and rent it again and really try to invest myself in it. Maybe a second pass will help my better appreciate the game.

This game took me a total of about 12 to play and finish. I am glad that I rented it first, because I would have been sorely disappointed if I had bought it, finished it, and then was stuck with a game I most likely wouldn't play again.
There are 5 crimes you have to solve. They are pretty detailed, but I noticed that several times the characters stuttered at the beginning of a scene. Loading time aggravated me, especially when you have to go back and forth (which you actually have to do quite a lot). Every time you change a location or need to talk to someone else, you get a loading screen. I never timed it, but it's probably 15-30 seconds each time. Or at least it seems that way. Most of the game time is actually spent waiting.
I know there are limitations to this type of game, but the game seems very coached. The tutorial isn't even necessary. I played the tutorial and then found out that had I just gone straight into the first crime, your "partner" teaches you everything as you go along. For the forensic tools, you are only allowed access to a couple of them at a time, and your partner tells you if its the wrong tool You never really have to remember what a certain tool is or what it does. The tutorial, in my opinion, is basically pointless since the gameplay and controls are pretty simple.
It's a pretty fun game. It's almost like a CSI episode, only you have to advance the episode yourself. I enjoyed playing it, but for me, it has zero replay value.
If you like puzzle games this is good for you. I don't enjoy adventure games much because I can't beat more than the first few levels. This game was challenging without being too easy. It's not good for replay value so it's really one to be rented, not bought. It only has 5 cases but if you're looking for something to do on a rainy weekend this is it!
The pros are good storylines, realistic crimes, good graphics, and has a challenge to it.
The cons are the loading lags it has sometimes and the product plugs (HP, VISA, etc).
Overall good game and I hope they come out with more to it, maybe with faster load times and more cases.
