its a great game but takes some time getting used to controls the graphix are of great quality the game play is fierce and fun unlocking the new content is a great challenge and its overall a superb game i would recomend it to anyone that likes a challenge when playing racing games
Build ‘n Race is one example on how to do something very well, and something very poorly.
This game has sixty - count ‘em - sixty tracks. But they didn’t tell you that all but seven tracks are locked, and in order to unlock the rest of the tracks you’ll have to grind through several seven race championship modes where you have to accumulate the most points in the seven races.
Also, you get only two cars to start off with and only three (of the five) game modes
WHY? Why lock up so much material? Is Zoo Games worried that players will get tired of the game faster if they get access to most cars and tracks?
There’s some truth to the fear: This game looks bad. The road’s bland, the cars are bland, and the scenery is very bland. And the music doesn’t add anything new to the experience.
The controls work okay - except for a few moments where my car jerked to the left or right for some unknown reason. That’s when the controls fail and I crash.
The AI cars are out to run you off the road - and the first three cars get a ten to twenty second head start at the beginning of the race. In order to win, I have to get past two sets of reckless drivers and hope my car doesn‘t unexpectedly jerk about. This game can really get aggravating.
The “Build” part of “Build 'n Race” has you making tracks. It would be fun, but there’s no simple way to know if the pieces fit together or how to make an underground and/or elevated track. This just adds to the annoyance factor.
Besides, the graphics makes almost any track look basic and tired - not something to show off to friends.
Build ’n Race fails on the building and on the racing, so there’s no real reason to give this a try. SKIP IT.
the cars look okay but that is about it. the controls with the d pad are okay but the motion controls a nightmare!. build your own tracks was interesting but there should be a way to share theme. plus track editing needs more polishing and a camera controls so one can see if the track pieces are lined up or need to be corrected such making a banked turn coming into a flat straight away.
this is one of those games that obviously is a great concept to be a great game. but as with a lot of these game from small developers it was painfully obvious the game was rushed and not finished the way it should have been. the controls defiantly should have been better. zoo should have looked at the successful racing games for the wii that all have multiple ways for controls including using the classic controller. graphics needed serious polishing to look better. and the controls ont the track builder could have used some tweaking to make it a bit more user friendly
sadly this was one of the game the was returned the same day i recieved it
