I hope that Buck Fever isn’t contagious.
In this really simple shooting game, you go about five areas of the United States or one area in Canada in your quest to bring down as many bucks as you can.
Each area has three stages. Each stage has three levels plus a mini game at the end. Each level has three bucks that you have to shoot with your one an only gun that carries three bullets per clip.
Nope, you don’t get a big weapon selection as in other games of the genre, you’re stuck with one lousy gun.
As if that wasn‘t enough, there has to be a whole mess of does all around the bucks, and if you shoot anywhere near them, then it will count as a hit on a doe you‘re not supposed to hit.
The bucks on the other hand, are more erratic; sometimes they go down on the first shot and sometimes they just keep on going even after taking three bullets to their hide. Sometimes I wonder if they’re sporting a new bulletproof hide.
Once you get through an level, then you’re off to the next level or area to do the same thing over again, and again, and again. There’s really no difference between the different areas; this game can get dull and tedious very quickly.
The game makers try to add shelf life to the game by making you buy a few areas with points scored in unlocked areas (it would be nice if they told you which areas are locked at the beginning of the game). But this just made me go through the unlocked areas over and over again - which did not add any fun to the experience.
There’s a Party Mode where up to four players can go to an unlocked area and for one level, shoot as many bucks within a time limit. Or they can play any of the mini games (some mini games have to be unlocked with points - there's so much locked material here.)
Even with that, Buck Fever feels like it’s a budget game lacking content, polish or lasting appeal. There are many other hunting games out there - that are much better than Buck Fever. SKIP IT.

Try Remington Bird Hunt if you are looking for a good hunting game.

The title explains the same way I feel about this boring game. Throw rocks at cars rather than play this stupid game.

Buck Fever for the Wii

Great aiming. Pretty good graphics for the Wii. But teaching to shoot on the run... horrible!!! This is suppose to be a hunting experience game but it turns out to be duck hunt instead. Not a good experience at all.

Should have been a Wii-Ware title

Many might not know this, but this game was originally an arcade game. I was really excited when I heard it was coming to the Wii. But the game play was unaltered and still feels like an arcade game... with each stage lasting around 30 seconds. You could tell it was designed to eat quarters. So it's biggest downside is after playing it for 30 minutes straight you get tired of it. But playing it in short time frames it's awesome. That's why it should have been a Wii-ware title.
