Good

A good attempt at the next generation FPS.

Character customization is the next big step in first-person shooters. Bethesda has broken ground in a big way with Brink. The customization aspect of the game is fantastic. The only problem is that you can't really see it during game play. This game seemed really complicated to me as well. All I want to do is sit back and enjoy playing a video game. I loved the customization. I spent a good solid hour customizing my character and started losing interest as soon as I started playing with him. Once game play started I was completely oblivious to the fact that the people I was shooting were customized characters. They all look the same unless I looked really closely. Although, the gameplay aspect was really interesting. So far I think Brink is a really fun game but it strikes me as a more ground breaking game than a finished product. I look forward to RAGE. Now that should be, and I hope it will be, fun.

I've been extremely excited for this game, but it wasn't near as good as I expected. Adds a lot of fresh ideas with the parkour style movement, different body types, and customizable weapons, but seems to over complicate itself when applying each. I ended up only using the medium body style because the heavy was basically useless and the light died extremely easily and was only a fraction more agile. Weapon customization is cool, but there are so many options its hard to tell if you've made a good choice. Friendly AI is extremely idiotic, they will hardly ever assist you in your mission and normally run off in another direction. Enemy AI always seem to know exactly where you are, and in almost every situation will outnumber you by a lot. Campaign and Online play are exactly the same. There are about 20 different missions you can choose from, which give you the option of playing off/online. Online (for me) was extremely laggy and I almost never used it because of this.

Brink was a great idea, but it's development doesn't come close to the hype it's created over the past year.

I was definately looking forawrd to this game but soon after i got in the mail i was somewhat dissapointed. It's very hard and the SMART system is kind of lumpy. Yes there is a VERY bad lag online. Also the AI is somewhat stupid because the enemy would be running into a wall then do a 360 and just shoot you down like nothing. however it was very fun and definately something I've never expirenced before. Too bad they couldnt quite get it right.
