I truly loved Blue Dragon on the Xbox 360, and Blue Dragon Plus is set one year after the ending of the Blue Dragon game from the Xbox 360. I found the DS version to be fun despite the fact that there is very little spoken dialogue(yes, you have to read a lot as the other review mentioned, but I think there are some interesting dialouges and plot twists which remind me of the tight knit story from the Xbox 360). Unfortunately due to being put on the DS Blue Dragon Plus is a very different game and suffers some from having less power/memory than the 360.
The dialogue and story seems strong.
The item system/battle system design is above average compared to other DS games(they put a lot of thought into designing the touch-screen mechanics for battles).
The quality of the movies is very strong despite the fact it's on the DS(but this is probably the reason you have to read most of the text because they used up memory with all the movies)
You can save in a battle not just on the main dungeon/world screens.
Seems to be true to the music and tone/story of the first Blue Dragon.
Portability, you couldn't play the first Blue Dragon while waiting at the Doctor's office, etc.
Only 2 save spots(so only 2 people in our house can have their own save).
Lots of reading.
Some long battles(but at least you can save in the middle of the battle).
Overall: I'd say if you liked the first Blue Dragon and want to see what happens next that Blue Dragon Plus is at least worth a rent but don't be expecting the same play style as the 360.
This game was rather good. I gave it a 5 out of 10 because it wasn't a bad game but it got old fast with LOTS of reading and back-traking. It's read-battle-read-battle-move-battle, like I said, a good game but it got old fast. The main reson i gave it a 5 was because it has the best cut-seens that I have EVER seen on the DS (it is truly amazing). The graphics are ok, I feel that they could be better but it didnt realy take any fun out of the game. It was a fun game with a grate story with tons of characters and you can make robots to add to your team making the number of playable characters outstanding (its like more than 9 and thats not including the robots you can build to add to your team, and thats when I put it down, I was only 1/2 way done with the game). I just didn't feel like beating it, but I'm just not shure about this game. Rent it if you want just to try it out but its a DEFINITE do not buy. Depending on the friend and their interests i would recomend this game to a friend though.
