BloodRayne was an epic game for me. When I was younger and I used to play it late at night, it would creep me out. I loved it. When I saw that there was a BloodRayne 2, I was very excited to say the least. But I thought "a sequel to a game like BloodRayne? I hope it doesn't suck!" well it didn't! This game had a really good storyline, it had some of the best graphics I have ever seen for a PS2 game. The one downside was that it wasn't so creepy. Maybe that's just because I've gotten older. Either way, I loved this game more than the first. It gets a perfect 10 from me. I highly recommend this if you liked the first one even a little bit.
GAMPLAY: If u though BR1 was bloody.. think again! BR2 is over exaderated bloody. U can cut peoples limps off, u can cut them down the middle.. u can pretty much cut them anywhere and blood will spew like there is no tommorrow!!! When u suck blood from enemies u can do a finishing move and there are alot of finishing moves and each and everyone is bloody, violent goodness!!There are also alot of cool combos u gain and u get these cool guns that use blood ( which u can violently suck out of enemies necks!) and can shoot like a shotgun or a pistol or pretty much anything!WARNING: This game could make u puke! STORY: The story in BR2 is slightly better than it was in BR1. This time, it deals with your father trying to spread a gas that will cover the sun so vampires can come out in the daytime too and take over the world. It has some cool twists and stuff that will make u have to kinda think all of it over after wards. GRAPHICS & DESIGN: The graphics in BR2 are beautiful. The lighting and detail on everything is just beautiful. everything shines and looks real! I was REALLY impressed by the big differnce in BR1 and BR2's graphics! The design in BR2 is pretty much the same as it was in BR1. the environments and stuff are always really dark but they look alot better becuz the graphics are so much better! OVERALL: If this game would have just had a little better story and a better design it would have gotten a 10! RATING: 9.5/10
If not for the story line being the only redeeming quality this would be trash. The only improvements to the visuals were cut scenes here and there, the over all game content though is no better looking than the first.
Fighting is very boring very fast, feeding is almost a required part of fighting instead of a part time need to replace health. The guns are a great idea but a waste of time, only on select enemies are they useful. Death scenes become dull and repetitive quickly. Boss fights are less than spectacular also...
Her new auras and abilities really don't add enough to the game to make it feel fresh or new.
As the subject says... sub par for a sequel. I understand the limits of the PS2 software but not improving things just to have it look 'gritty' is really not forgivable. The great story is about all this has going for it.
Rent, play, return... not much doing beyond that with this title.
