Blitz the League is probably the best Arcade Football to date. It literally has bone breaking tackles. It also has jukes and dekes to embarrass anyone foolish enough to try and tackle you. Gameplay wise the game is just straight arcade football with big hits or big catches that make it a lot of fun to play.

The gameplay while action packed can get repetitive or at least annoying. For the first couple of games every time some breaks a Tibia or shatters a finger you will cringe at the X-Ray shot. But since this is an arcade game you run into at least 1 or 2 and usually more injuries a game. This mean that you will be seeing X-Rays a lot since there isn’t a lot of diversity in the cut scenes during and after the injury.

The season mode is very good. Unlike regular football you are not going to be concerned with trades or the next rookie prospect. You are about improving the players you have through any means necessary. What will make you a good coach in the season mode is how well you balance pumping your players with drugs in order to keep them on the field or improving their stats and keeping your player sane and impervious to injury by withholding the drugs. You are also given a gym where you can improve your player naturally but this takes a long time compared to giving your player steroids.

The season mode also comes with an interesting story that centers around a coach, a rookie and a veteran. You will pick each of these people in order to create the kind of team you want to make. For example the rookie could be a promising Running Back, Wide Receiver or a Quarter Back. Depending on what you pick your team will have a strong running game or a strong passing game. As you play through the season you will see the bad things that make the League run. It definitely earned it M rating.

Blitz is a fun arcade game and there is a good single player experience in the season mode.
