This game is a very good addition for the sports genre. It is what we would LIKE to see the NFL be, but they are too afraid to admit to it.
Yes, loading times are some of the worst for this platform. But the game play and graphics payoff isn't too bad.
Sluggish and sometimes unneccesary cut scenes draw things out. Nothing like being 3rd and 10 yards and all pumped about the play action you are going to do then are stopped by a cut scene. Yes, you can stop it by hitting the triangle, but the fact it even appears in such a time kinda sucks.

rent it and have fun, save your buying dollars for Madden

One little word can sum up about 30% of your playing experience. "Loading". It takes roughly 2 minutes to load into a game, it also has a load sequence to go into several menu items, and theres a load sequence for returning from those items to the main menu. Every other play there is a random cut scene of someone yelling at someone else, You can't turn these off unless you want to turn all cut scenes off.

Also, the pointless violence and excessive "throwing" of players 20 yards is not included, you can pound into someone after a play but only if your player happens to be near someone else as you can't control his movement. The "clash" meters, which power up your power plays is a pain in the rear, I tried to do a clash catch more than 30 times in the training, I only got past it by luck, more often than not it was intercepted because I was catching manually. Not much of a turbo anymore, its all clash now. And you have to hold down the L button to do clash moves, and evading on the quarterback consists of holding down L and double tapping R, EVERY TIME. This is clash evade of course, you can do a normal evade with the double tap R but normal anything doesn't do jack, and almost never succeeds.

To sum it all up, this next version of Blitz takes away the easy violence and mayhem that made it fun turned it into carefully inputed special move violence that fails completely if you don't time it right. The game itself is more like Madden, but madden plays better because you don't have to worry about clash evading or dirty hits.

To be honest I would if enjoyed the old Blitz game ported to PSP more than this new version. Definitely not going to buy this title, its a shame, I really wanted to before I played it.
