Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War for Xbox 360 Reviews by Gamers

I have to give credit to this game, even though i think it could have been put together better. First off, I will confess that I am a sucker for the create-a-character mode. And the custom characters in this game are fairly lacking, there are three voices to choose from; Effeminate Viking, Frenchman or perhaps German guy with with a painful speech impediment and Cranky Englishman. I chose to be the effeminate Viking, there are several faces, few of which match these voices, for instance, you could be a Samurai looking man with a French accent, and who wants that? You could also play as a woman, but I never really bothered to play a second file to find out about that, now, onto the game itself. Typical of the genre (anything imported from Japan) there are unrealistic relationships, (friendship and hugs despite the onslaught of brutal medieval war) awkward descriptions, (and he became obsessed with this mercenary, whose eyes had a virile glow... or something to that extent) and a poignantly useless diary system. The battle itself is the only reason to play the game, after all, what other game but this one allows you to play as an effeminate Viking who leads a platoon of noble English knights with feathers in their helmets and ruin life for the French? Not many albeit, and despite the fact that the game, like most strategy games, runs off of the rock/paper/scissors principle (the combat can be, at times, close minded) it can still be incredibly entertaining, if for no other reason, than comic relief. Also, be prepared, the story voiceovers, who are attempting to emulate old english, are nearly as unwieldy as the voiceovers from Two Worlds... But the in battle voiceovers are good, what with the screams and war cries and all...
But still, the game itself, despite it's flaws, is fun to play, I would not recommend buying it until the price goes down, but it is certainly good for renting.
