Blade (Wesley Snipes) is half human, half vampire, and the only one who can stop the vampire underworld from destroying the human race. Blade's mother was bitten by a vampire when he was in the womb. He has the strength and powers of a vampire without their weaknesses. Straddling the world between darkness and light, Blade hunts vampires to avenge his mother's death, preserving a shaky co-existence between bloodsuckers and humans. Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) decides his vampire race should no longer play second fiddle to the weaker humans. Frost sets up an elaborate ancient ritual to summon the Blood God and bring vampires to power. But he'll need the Daywalker's blood to make it happen. Kris Kristofferson plays Blade's grizzled weapons guru in this stylized action-thriller.
