Dont rent it at all please this is so far the worst rpg game that ive played. i mean the little time attack thing isnt really good and its real slow the character dosent even run it slowalks. and that weapon craft thing really sucks too. there is only four sucky characters. the only good thing about this game is the intro song/movie. the boss the supposeally black night is real hard to beat. the weapons are real expensive and the potions are 150Gill thats messed up please dont rent it unless you like being pacient. the rpg i recomend is vallhalla knights. that is a good game please do not even bother renting or buying this crapy 6.5 rated game. peace!!!!

This is by far one of the worst attempts at a modern day RPG that i have ever scene Modern=1995 and forward). This game literally dumps you off in a town, and that is it. Nothing else, no story, no introduction, nothing. You have no direction given to you, only the statement from the main character "this will be a great place for adventures!". Yes, it is a great place for adventures, an adventure of going back to the store you bought it and trying to return this thing. On a less biased comment, I would like to say that even though this game has NO story whatsoever, it still had potential. However, all that went right into toilet since you are not even given a direction. There is not even a purpose to the existence of the character in the game! That is what causes this thing to fail so badly. Now it takes alot to get a score like i am giving this one, and simply a terrible (lack of) story would not justify it. The game does not stop there though, oh no you get to have even more fun. Anything that is worth anything (even the chocolate pudding that comes out of the stray dog at the harbor in the first town) has to be crafted. This is the central game focus, craft, craft, and more crafting. As a matter of fact, 5 minutes into the game and i had a quest to craft a decent sword (still no sign of anything story related though). This is it's only factor that is not horrid, but it still is below average. And with all of that focus on crafting, there is a secondary focus on fighting. It turns out to be a full real time fight system, with about 594839504593 monsters in each field that chase after you like a teenage girl does a member of a rock band. I know i have not spent much time on these factors, but it's because they feel like they were ripped out of a first generation PS2 RPG. However, if you are a stat mongler (the person who takes characters to level 9999), then this game won't be that horrid. Just don't expect anything else, just stats...lot's of em

Atlus is new to 3d, but we aren't.

I had high hopes for this game. I've enjoyed Atlus games for years and if they had stayed in their 2d universe this would have been better for it. Atlus is new to 3d, and as such they have to go through the growing pains of finding out what works. Going through that process is like taking a step back in time. This game would have been fine if it were released in the mid-90's but it doesn't cut it today. The UI is clunky, the walking around tedious, figuring out what to do next isn't obvious (nor intuitive). They have a lot to learn when it comes to delivering a real 3d-rpg experience they should hire some consultants or hire from the best to get a better grip for how to move in the future. The games semantics and story might have been fine, but the overarching issues that exist with their 3d transition had me returning the game after just a few short days of banging my head on the wall.

As always, your mileage may vary.
