Good game with some weak side

Let me start by saying that Bionic Commando is not an easy game as it looks. The reason for that is not hard bots, tricky puzzles or tuff boss fights - no, but something that you would less expect – the structure of the game itself. You see, the levels are not long, and if there where no bots or collectables, you’d probably get from point A to point B in less than 3 min. But here is the kick – the checkpoints are few, usually one for the level, and if you die – well, what ever you did after that checkpoint will be lost, and you basically have to start all over again – this part is the most frustrating one, especially if you are a trophy/ achievement “hunter”, because most of these (trophy/ achievement) are rewarded by completing “challenges” – certain requirements that you try to do to not only get the trophy/ achievement, but it also upgrades some of your character abilities and supply. Playing the game on Normal difficulty didn’t cause that much problem, and I actually enjoyed it besides a few moments that I’ve just explained. But going for all achievements made me play this game on Commando difficulty, which is the third level of difficulty after Hard – that’s when I was cursing like a sailor, and pulling my hair out.
But don’t get me wrong – it’s still a fun game, with good gameplay, decent graphics, and interesting to some point story. You’ll swing and fight using your bionic arm – the control for this works out great and I didn’t have any problems with it. The guns in the game are ok, the aiming is not what you’d expect from 3-d person shooter, but soon enough you get used to it. So I do recommend it for rental.
