Excellent

Great game with some flaws

This game vacillates between and 8 and 9 for me.

I spent about 15-17 hours on Normal difficulty and it was pretty well done. I don't know if I'd want to play it again soon seeing as there's no New Game Plus or other interesting modes. It does the single player campaign well, which I appreciate nowadays with stupid online passes and unnecessary multiplayer everywhere.

The world here is strange and off-putting in a good way.
This game will make you feel uncomfortable many times due to its themes and character interactions.

It's better just to play it and experience the story yourself. I didn't feel as drawn into this game as I was in Bioshock 1 & 2, I think due to their horror atmosphere. This game has more people interaction than the first two combined, but I always felt at a distance with the story. It gets weirder and weirder with very sci-fi plotlines. It was nice to have your character actually speak this time.

The graphics are mostly wonderful, but I guess they had to sacrifice textures on walls and certain things because the environments are much more open. They can be ugly and low-res in many places up close.

I was disappointed that the enemies variety was low. It seemed like you fight the same group of Columbia policemen every time. Also, the citizens were a bunch of re-used character models, so you'd see the same faces over and over.

The gameplay itself is surprisingly low in variety. It's mostly go to an open space or room and clear out enemies. There are no hacking mini-games or other distractions except for deciphering codes or lockpicking, both of which Elizabeth does for you.

Riding skylines is a fun gimmick, but you never really need to use except to get from Point A to Point B. It's too much trouble killing enemies while riding it.

The vigors are fun to use and interesting to combo with each other. The game overall is a must-see experience and a good rental. I may buy it in a year when it drops in price.

Ive been a gamer for over 20 years and this game is the closest thing to perfection that I have experienced. Gameplay, story, art direction and level design are all excellent with the all-star being the story. Ken Levine has become an overnight gaming legend and has pushed the medium to new heights, Anyone that thinks video games are a second-rate form of art, look no further than Bioshock Infinite. If you are a gamer you MUST play this game.

Perfect

Game of the year

This is without a doubt one of the best games I have played in recent memory. I can't remember the last time I counted down the minutes until I could go home and play a video game. The combat is fast paced and simple while still allowing for a wide variety of ways to approach most fights. The storyline is compelling and interesting. The thing that really makes this game though is the incredible attention to detail. Every time I play through this game I notice minute details that I am still impressed by. The body language of characters, especially Elizabeth, peoples reactions, conversations, graffiti, posters, and countless other minor details that takes you from a video game into a story that you experience from a first person point of view. I can't really say much more without spoilers, but make sure you don't skip the ending credits. There's a bit more afterwords.
