This was a lot of fun. I have enjoyed the other BS games, 1 more than 2, but I think this one might have been the best. It's kind of a long game, but it held my attention well. Not a bad story line. Moved right along.
I liked that getting killed didn't set me all the way back on whatever I was doing. I die a lot and I hate a game that makes me repeat EVERYTHING from the beginning of the save. :-) Good drops on weapons, ammo, and credits.
It's probably more like an 8.5 but no quite a 9.
What can I honestly say? Let's get the technical stuff out of the way. Smooth gameplay and familiar controls to those who have been with the series since the beginning. Really the only reason i'm not giving this a perfect ten, is that the gameplay felt kind of repetitive at times. using a limited set of weapons and salts, you find yourself just sticking with what works, which means that variety in the gameplay becomes rare (until much later in the game). The graphics are more amazing than the previous installments with its cell shading. The sound and voice acting are phenomenal, which is right on par with this series. All in all, a technical work of art.
Speaking of art...THIS. STORY. IS. BEAUTIFUL. When I played through the first one, I was completely blown away. I loved the subtle hints, all leaning me towards madness only to find the truth even more astounding. The second one did not add much depth for me, personally.
This installment gives you a story that will make you fully believe that video games are art. The ending only adds to that fact.
Starting out, you feel like a hired gun in a strange new world. The artful way that the story is slowly unraveled bit by bit through both the cut scenes and the actual gameplay is the developers showing that they still know how to pace a very well written story line. The action sequences feel like a brand new experience with the Sky-hook movements, Elizabeth's powers, and her ability to toss you ammo and such in the middle of of battle. These are huge aspects that fans will no doubt love.
The ending wraps up, not only this game, but the entire series as a whole. It takes you to the roots of the series, and shakes you to your core as a gamer. It really cannot be understated. If you are any type of gamer, this will not disappoint.
