Games based on movies or TV shows have not done well, and Beastly is one clear reason why this is the case: bland mini games, tired gameplay, lacking content, and a disconnect between the mini games and the main story.
In this game, you can choose to be a boy or a girl student at a prestigious school - and right after that, you are asked to do mundane tasks like gather up signatures, a poster, talk to a whole bunch of people or just simply wait in line (yes, the game actually has you wait in line for a moment or two.)
Along the way, you are challenged to 15 very simple and very short mini games which are not all that challenging. Games like hit certain posters, drive golf balls, drive a motor cycle, or answer a multiple choice questions bout animals or landmarks. I didn’t find much fun in any of these games.
And once you get through the games or certain tasks, you get very short scenes from the movie/TV show (don’t know which one Beastly is). You can also get messages from other students or pictures. Then, it’s off to the next mundane task.
This game will take about an hour to an hour and a half to finish, and I found very little reason to go back and give it a second go.
The final nail in this game’s coffin is that none of these mini games can be played multiplayer. That would at least given this game a tiny bit of shelf life.
Beastly is just too short and too bland a game to get - even at a measly $15. SKIP IT.
