It's not bad, but it's not good either. In the end, Battleship commits no real sins but is just an utterly forgettable lackluster foray into the genre.
It really feels like little effort was put into any kind of innovation - there are three varieties of alien enemies, plus one automated mobile mine; there are two alien weapons, and three human weapons.
Heavy weapons take the form of supporting fire from naval vessels. You need to move them into supporting fire positions, then you can call down artillery strikes. These strikes recharge over time, and with only a few exceptions, there is little reason other than impatience to not wait until your artillery recharges before moving on to the next engagement.
The artillery strikes themselves are also pretty mundane, choosing between medium area, 2- or 3-shot small area, huge area, or an "enemy magnet" attack that attracts and distracts nearby enemies.
Headshots cause enemies to drop "wildcards," upgrades for your fleet vessels. They are plentiful, and again, rather mundane, amounting to armor or weapon boosts, as well as resurrecting sunken ships.
The one unique feature of the game - controlling the naval fleet to provide supporting fire - is also quite underwhelming, consisting mostly of moving ships on a grid into highlighted squares and occasionally starting in an on-rails shootout with an enemy ship, which consists entirely of mashing the triggers for 20 seconds.
On level has you protecting a particular ship from enemies, which actually led to the game's only real crisis point - You need to get wildcards to boost your fleet, so it drives you to keep moving, seeking wildcards, and keeping an eye on your fleet.
The game is also very lenient. The "hard" difficulty is akin to a moderate difficulty in Halo or MoH/CoD, and all achievements are easily attainable within 6-8 hours.
In the end, Battleship is like cheap pizza. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either.

M,y Son enjoyed the game but would have liked it to be a two player sequence to be enhanced the mode of defense. The defense was awesome but wish more graphics and statics more relating to the movie from start to finish.
I like the concept of the game. If they would of upgraded the graphics, put in more weapons, & focused on ship combat more it would of been a really decent game. It's not a bad game. It's still worthy trying.

the whole game just gives you 7 missions and...you know what you do all of thoes 7 mission BLOW UP CUMUNACATERS THATS IT THE WHOLE GAME OHH YOU THINK THATS BAD THE GAME ONLY gives 4 wepones the shotgun the sniper the pistol and the assultrifle thats it the game has nothing to do with battleship the movie or the game the game is 4 hours long no online first persone teamdeath match nope JUST THE 4 HOURE LONG SINGLEPLAYER AND THE GRAPHICS IS SOOOO BAD OK THE ONLY THING THAT HAS ANY THING TO DO WITH BATTLESHIP IS THE STUIP CUMPUTER MINIGAME THAT YOU CAN ONLY USE EVERY COUBLE OF MISSION DID I SAY IT WAS 7 MISSION YES I DID
The movie was def. better than the game but in all due respect the game was just way to short. I really enjoyed the actual battleship parts and sinking the enemy ships but the campaign was just too easy.
The game would have def. been better if it was a little bit longer and if you could have done more during the battleship fight sequences.
I have never written a review before, but I just had to say that this was the worst game I have ever played, every now and then I roll the dice hoping the critic's (and members) are wrong but this time it was snake eyes. I played the game less then 20 minutes and it was back in the envelope and on it's way back to gamefly.
Quite possibly one of the worst games in some time. Terrible hit detection, bland enemies and envirnoments. Game can be beaten in about 4 hours but you will not want to even invest that much time in this garbage.
