Every game I've played recently asks for $10 or buy to play online so I guess thats just how it is now. I payed the $10 and am glad i did. Single player was epic, and multiplayer is perfect. Everyone is staring at MW3 but I'll be surprised if it ever comes close to massive map scale of this title or have vehicle mayhem at all. Battlefield 3 delivers. I'll be keeping it.
I am a big DICE fan and am always one of the first to get the newest DICE game. My expectations for this game were very high, and in many ways they were fulfilled but in a few ways they fell short.
Campaign: Campaign is very, very fun and entertaining, and if you get into the story, it's even better! It seems one-dimensional though, with repeated kill animations and the AI knowing where you are even though you are in cover. Sure there are some glitches but it's still pretty good. Coming off the BFBC2 campaign, and comparing it to that it fell very short, but comparing it to any COD campaign it succeeded in many many ways.
Co-Op: Yes, there's Co-Op and it is in-fact amazing. It's not the same as campaign, so it's as if you actually get two campaigns in one game, and in many ways is more fun than the actual campaign, and varies from close combat to strategic combat where you must communicate with your partner to succeed. It's online only, so you can't do split-screen!
Multiplayer: One word: Wow. Beats any other shooter in thousands of ways. There's really no way to describe it you'll have to play it to see.
On-line pass: If you rent the game you'll need to buy a $10 online pass to access the servers (Game sharing works for the pass), but if you buy it it's free.
