The Single player mode on this game is fun for the first twenty seconds of the game, but is helpful in allowing you to get the game play basics down which you will need for the games biggest feature: On line play.
I don't recommend buying this game if you do not have a Broadband Modem to play on line. Because it's not worth it to rent or buy as a single player game.
Graphics: 7-10 The Graphics in this game are just what you'd expect from a modern time Playstation 2 Shooter. The characters faces are not very detailed, but the characters actions and body motions are pretty well detailed as well. The Explosions tend to make characters fly about like rag dolls taking away from any realistic deaths in the game.
Sounds/Music: 9-10 The Sound effects in the game are amazing. When you are running through a corridor and you hear bullets whizzing past your ear. Explosions shaking your controller you tend to get really into the game. The music is classic first person shooter, I'm not really listening but it helps while you wait to re-spawn. Controls: 7-10 The controls are hard to use at first but you learn to pick it up quickly, or get shot. Changing weapons tends to leave you frantic as it requires you to hold down R2 and tilt the analog to choose a weapon. Diving, Crouching and shooting becomes a necessity during game play.
On line Game play: 8-10 The Game play on line moves fairly well. When the Servers aren't overcrowded or down, the game moves smoothly and has little to no lag. The Game modes are Capture the Flag and Conquest mode, which offers a larger stage and more action, Conquest games tend to run for a while. The Rank system is also a great feature for striving to improve skill and sorting out the good from the bad.
Overall: 9-10 This is a great game for On line Shooter Enthusiast, and a must have for any Halo or Socom fan. This game is nothing without it's On line mode. I recommend renting it to see if it's for you, but be prepared to end up buying it later.

Battlefield2: Modern Combat is an exceptional shooter, with very good, all-around online and offline play, with lot's of weapons and vehicles. With 24 players online, the fun( not to mention explosions) never stops! There are plenty of maps, and friends are easy to make. It even comes with clan-making features. But if you're online-challenged(and if you are, why?) the offline campaign mode is well thought out. You earn stars to boost up you're rank by completing missions on time, hotswapping a lot, and keeping you're team-mates alive. The hotswap feature let's you switch to any soldier that's on you're side that you can see at the press of a button! For example, you're in a car driving around spraying lead everywhere, and you see an enemy tank coming right at you. If you see a helicopter, you can immediately switch to it and blow the tank up with missiles. If you don't have a chopper, you could switch to an engineer class and blow it up with a missile. Or you switch to a support and mortar strike it, or switch to a sniper and take out it's laser designator to call in a missile strike. The possibilities are almost endless! There are also several different kinds of missions, like recon assault, demolition, or protect a certain place or places. The only few downsides to this excellent game is the graphics. They can get prettier. And it seems sort of clunky. Also, the story ends pretty weird, but if you do finish it, you can also do the challenges which can earn you more stars. All-in-all, it earns( and deserves) a 9 out of 10.
