Good: the US voice acting is fine. The artwork is all right.
Bad: The Japanese track on the US game is horrible. You can barely hear it above the music. The dialogue for the US version is pathetic. It's like those moments where you're trying to be funny, but it's not funny at all. They also say many senseless things, that don't really fit with what's happened so far; it's like the characters are constantly forgetting what happened previously. The graphics are horrid. The music isn't all that interesting. The battles are so easy, you could go like 50 battles without EVER healing if you wanted to. Boss battles are a joke. There's not really much to explore anymore, compared to the previous game. You don't even get to hear a good deal of the mana spirits' voices. The characters aren't very interesting. The store system has been replaced with a new facet of the alchemy system. So, no more favored stores. The map has been turned into a 'choose where you wanna go' system. Skills are now only available through items, and you cannot power them up anymore. A fair portion of the game, you're just running mindless errands, which basically are, "make X alchemical item". There really is very little purpose to Viese's existence gameplay-wise. The story seems to forget itself. The main character pretty much is completely superior to everyone. There is no balance between Felt, and the other fighters like in the previous game. Felt has the best damage, AND he can use alchemy. Making him superior. The mana spirits no longer need to be satisfied, and you cannot choose which mana spirit you want to create the item. In fact the mana spirits aren't that important either. Alchemy has also been dumbed down. So far as I've been(i haven't beat the game), there has yet to be an item that costs more than one of an element. Sometimes it will cost more than one type of element, but it will only be 1/X element per item. This game is a waste of money to buy OR rent. Just borrow it from a friend...

Review:
Ok this game is bad end of story
Unrelated statement:
For the person who said that they couldn't get to chapter 12 because the product would freeze during a loading sequence, and saying that it would continue to do so on 4 different PS2 systems, also stating that they saw someone say that another bug occurred during chapter 20, I have something to say, if the person had any common sense then they would realize that the game that they got had a bug since someone else made it past that. Also the system almost always has nothing to do with a bug in a game and that bugs may happen without scratches but maybe a faulty game.

Atelier aris; Good premise, broken game.

The reason i gave this game a one is because of the fact that it seems to be a broken product. The game freezes during the transistion between chapter 11 and 12. The game overall was very enjoyable, yet any form of a broken game, isn't worthy of a rating higher then a 1 as this is unacceptable in today's industry. I tried the game on 4 different PS2's, all of which ran the game flawlessly up to the transistion part I mentioned and then it just freezes; my last time attempting it, the transition loaded, but it loaded a image of Viese sitting on her table and not moving whatsoever and then it proceeded to crash. I've checked the disc for any form of scratches and their are no visible scratches, whatsoever.

SO i send this game back severely dissapointed that the developers allowed a bug like this that makes the game unfinishable,I am also aware that their is another bug like this on Chapter 20 as well. I am generally skeptical to blame game's for the reason of freezing, but after reading various messageboards, it seems that their are critical bugs galore among the game.

Gust & Atlus, thanks for dropping the ball.
