Assassins Yawn III

Another great and shining example of the same exact game, with a few pretty kill moves added.

The dialog was so boring I just skipped all of it.
Side missions....boring. Other than the naval missions, which always seemed to be fun. Sadly, the rest of the game didn't take it's que from those missions.
Combat, still very easy. I wonder why it's even been there in any of the AC games at all.

Essentially, if you played the first, you played the second, the third, the fourth, and so on and so on. AC reminds me of Star Wars; something that is just being so milked to death that only the purest, most die hard fans would continue to like what it spews out.

To put it another way. I am thankful for Gamefly, because AC3, much less any of its predecessors is a game I would never buy.

I should also mention I simply stopped playing this game as I just got completely bored with it. Screw playing it just for achievements, I'm returning it for something else. Hopefully the next game will be deserving of a good rating.

Glitchy and boring, but good story

I really enjoyed the story involving the American Revolution and the twist in the beginning of the game. However, you don't get too invested into the characters like you do with Ezio in AC2. The gameplay cutscenes where you kill multiple enemies are awesome, but they rarely happen. Also, there are so many glitches throughout the game that it gets annoying. Not to mention the ending will leave you unsatisfied and the 20 minute credits scene is unskippable. Although the freerunning is also improved, it's not as fun as AC2.

I'm an aspiring Game Developer and of all the games out there I have to say I love the entire AC series so far. The stories throughout the bloodline, the compelling and engaging fighting system, the interactive environments and real life landmarks through time ... make this game so rewarding. I would have to say its the best I've played in my lifetime ... until now.

Dont get me wrong, I still like AC3 as a continuation of the series. Good Storyline, It got a bit slow at times but the father / son combo package and Templar twist that bound them was great. Awesome environments and effects as always. Awesome Naval battle addition, sailing the high sees does not get better then that. The hunting aspect was a great addition too.

However ... I'm usually not one to point out the cons but with the outstanding quality and play ability of all the previous AC games ... I had to say something.

I love side missions but some of these felt very unrewarding for the amount of work they required, and very little monetary reward (which would have been nice to get all the ship upgrades without having to kill 100K+ guards and loot them for a meager 14L a pop).

As far as quality and play ability in game goes. This game felt like the QA had been very rushed, when it came to the basics. The game had a lot of needless texture z-fighting / flickering. There were way too many holes in the parts of the landscape models and collision tapestry allowing Conner to see and/or fall into the a virtual void way too many times. Several cut scenes having no audio or camera angles getting stuck and obscured behind random objects and not switching back to game mode in time to prevent damage .... Constantly running into invisible walls or getting stuck on small objects while riding a horse and/or during fight sequences ... could have made me almost want to return the game entirely. I could go on but you get the point ... I greatly look forward to WatchDogs, looks like it could be a winner
