Good

So glad I rented it

I loved the variation in a story line, but I absolutely hated the ending. You've seen the Gamefly commercials where the people are mad about a bad game. That's how I felt about the ending.
Moving on. You still have the usual controls, but I found them a bit more aggravating than normal.
The graphics are amazing, but the game itself was extremely buggy.
I liked the game, but it was just so disappointing on some many levels. So glad I rented instead of bought.

Plagued by Glitches

This is another installment of the Assassin's Creed series and is fun if you liked the others. Pretty much the same, although they got rid of some of the helpful things, like hiding places showing up on the map and quick elevator pulley things to scale houses rapidly, or auto walk when you blend with a moving crowd.
The cons to this game are many, however. First the tree climbing that seemed so ubiquitous in the previews isn't nearly as useful or abundant as i had hoped. Climbable trees are sparse and don't link together for any usable distance. Speaking of distance, you'll spend a lot of the time simply running from place to place. They give you a horse right from the start but it's only slightly faster than running and gets stuck on seemingly everything. i.e. slight change in elevation, a gap between a boulder and tree i could drive a F-150 through, etc.
And finally the glitches really bring this game from a 6-7 to a 5 review. They range from sound not working during the cinematics, to Conner not moving how he's suppose to like jumping off a roof instead of up it, getting stuck on random ledges, not jumping just falling, I know there's more glitches I encountered i just can't think of them as i write this. Anyways, this game plays like it could have used 3-6 more months in development.
If you like the Assassin's Creed series it's worth it to barrel through it, and there are still those exhilarating moments when a kill goes perfect or after an assassination you immediately disappear into a crowd or hiding spot, but there's room for lots of improvement. Maybe they'll do better next year.
Cheers!

Very Good

Really good! BUT...

First off, this game is a lot of fun. Same old kind of action as previous AC installments. The fighting sequences are great...especially with the new weapon: the rope darts. The historical aspect of the game is also interesting and you get to interact with a lot of familiar famous historical characters. The addition of being able to captain a ship and do naval missions is also a lot of fun. There are assassin recruits like in previous AC games and similar missions. The graphics are great and the game play itself is a lot of fun...BUT...

The story line is mediocre (both in and out of the animus) and never really gets you involved to the point that you care what is going on in the plot. I think the developers rushed the game a bit and it shows because the game is fairly glitchy. You can actually hunt and trap animals in this one, but that gets old pretty fast. After playing as Enzio in the previous AC games, I felt disconnected from this character, he just isn't as cool as Enzio lol. I hope there will be another installment of AC and the developers take their time with it. If this is how it ends, I'm disappointed.
I would recommend this game. It's a fun game to play, but it did not meet my expectations. I recommend renting from GF BEFORE buying. Great rental, but not worth the price if you buy it new.
