A little hard on the learning curve but worth it

I used to play Longbow, Apache vs Havoc and Comanche years ago on older PCs and have been looking for something similar and this game is similar in the sense that you actually have to "fly" to be able to do combat.
The better you get at flying (playing in Realistic mode), the more fun you'll have with it. It's not technically the same as playing Longbow but that's because it was a dedicated sim for PCs, but for console gaming, they've made this one just right considering you're using a controller instead of a flight stick.
Good game, reminiscent of the older Gunship sims I used to play on my older PCs (with better graphics!)
