I tried to like it, I really did....

I was excited when I first heard about a new Alone in the Dark, especially since it was coming to Wii with "in-depth" controls. Sadly, I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order and Gamefly'd it instead. It's worth a weekend rental, since you can beat it in a day. Here's a breakdown:
Graphics: 6/10 Not too bad, but a bit clunky looking. The humanoid enemies just didn't do it for me visually.
Sound: 5/10 The music is great, but the voice acting? .......not so much. Plus, I understand it's a mature game, but I can't stand constant cursing just for the sake of it. It just sounds dumb.
Controls: 4/10 The inventory screen only opens reliably when you empty your hands. The jumping is a joke. At least the FPS option works somewhat reliably.
Combat: 4/10 Ugh. Close combat is horrendous, just swing the wiimote until they stop moving. Shooting's ok though
Story: 4.5/10 Yea....have fun with this.
Overall, this game was a big dissapointment. It's very ambitious, it just doesn't deliver. Just rent it/Gamefly it. If you HAVE to buy it, I'd say wait for the $10-15 price range. Or the free end of a "buy one get one free" sale.
