The multiplayer is what this game is about. I find it intrinsically annoying when every other person complains about the story when a campaign for this game is obviously just a throw away. THIS IS A MULTIPLAYER GAME. If you have an Xbox but no xbox live leave this game alone. All the people complaining about the story on this are the same morons that complained about the story on Modern Warfare 2 and Chromehounds. IF YOU WANT A GOOD STORY PLAY AN RPG OR READ A BOOK. Game play is all that is important in A SHOOTER! And this game absolutely delivers. Is it perfect...no, but it delivers the FEEL of the movies (first 2) and comics. Yes there are balance issues. Yes, if you are marines and there is no communication you will die easily. Yes the insta kills take too long. Yes the graphics aren't the best. BUT when you are in a room that rocks, all of that melts into the background. I feel sorry for the fan boys who need a story for a SHOOTER to be good... shooters are about...shooting and you will be doing tons of that in this game.
AVP is far from being a great game. It's full of flaws and techinical glitches but it is not anywhere near as bad as what critics are claiming it to be. Just because it doesn't rank with killzone or Modern warfare doesn't mean this isn't an enjoyble shooter. While there is nothing particulary special or new here and the graphics are muddy, theres plenty of simple fun action. Theres also a lot to do in this package. Three campaigns, a survival mode, and a decent multiplayer should keep any gamer busy over a weekend.
THE PRETTY: Plenty of content, fun and simple gameplay, 3 seperate campaigns, good sound design, decent multiplayer
THE UGLY: Muddy and outdated graphics, wonky controls at times, screen tearing, unfair deaths, lack of polsih
