First off let me say that the reason I gave this game a 10 is because I am a huge storyline buff. I play games for a lot of reasons, but when a story comes around that is actually the driving force behind me getting through it, I have to give it some extra respect. But there is more to the game than just that. Alan Wake revolves around a best selling author of the same name. Wake Has been having some odd dreams lately but he hopes his vacation with his wife, Alice, to a small mountain town called Bright Falls. But all is not well for long. His wife goes missing, Wake has lost a week of his life and is not being attacked by creatures from a book he has no memory of writing. Alan Wake has a great combat system, beautiful graphics and full and expansive world. You'll find your self many times taking a moment just to look around and take in the sights. But during the night portions you might not want to stay in one place for very long. For a game with a T rating, Alan Wake does an amazing job at being a great Horror game. A mixture of sounds, light effects and deadly enemies, you will find yourself on the edge of your set through much of the game. If your a fan of Horror Literature such as Stephen King you will enjoy the same style of his writing in this game. If you like any of horror, shooter or story driven games, Alan Wake is for you.
The storyline is interesting. I liked the TV mini-series feel. Probably would have been more impressed with the concept if I hadn't played Heavy Rain first. Gameplay gets a little repetitive. I liked the concept of using a flashlight as a "weapon", but would have liked to have been able to use it as a club when in a jam.
It's one of the best survival horror games in the last decade, Taking elements from hits such as "Resident Evil 4" and "Silent Hill". The graphics are top-notch the tvs, radios, signs, manuscript pages, youll do more than one playthrough to get all 1000G. The achievements are all mostly unlocked in the game as you progress, Like the "Oh, So THATS what happened" achievement. Some achievements like "Medical Opinion" you have to access Dr. Hartman's recordings before you leave the clinic, I didnt get that one.Basically, this is one of the best games of 2010! "Cough, Red Dead Redemption".This game is a must buy. The only bad thing about this game is that some parts are quite hard but challengings better than way too easy. this game rocks.
