As great as the show is you would expect the game to be awesome right? WRONG this games falls below expectations boring and the game graphics are super retro. There is nothing wrong with retro when its updated.I was very disappointed if you like adventure time you wont like this game they could have did way better

Feels like a smart phone or flash game conversion.

OK, even if you like Adventure time, this game is not for you. The gameplay is boring, the graphics are extremely dated, and the game doesn't even have FMV to start things off. This game looks to be a smartphone app or flash game that they decided was good enough to be on console, however once that decision was made, they put absolutely no work into sprucing it up for console.

First things first, the game starts with jerky small box cut scenes that remind you of the days of the very first CD game systems like Sega CD. But that would probably be unfair to Sega CD as I saw much better FMV on that unit. It is probably more fair to compare it to the old attempts to do cut scenes on the SNES or Genesis.

Going past the FMV, you get stuck in a small circle area with a shaft going down into a dungeon you have to explore. Princess Bubblegum gives you some random explanation of why you need to traipse off into said dungeon and collect stuff because she says so. She can't herself do it as she has better things to do. There are other people here which you can use to do upgrades or other partners you can switch to and use in the dungeon. So, you take Bubblegum up on her offer and head into the dungeon as there is nothing else to do.

Great, explanation aside, Adventure Time is all about exploring. Pretending your Finn or Jake and venturing into a creepy dungeon to get some loot and slay some bad guys. Now if only this, the core play of the game, was remotely fun. Enemies are repetitive, attacks are simple, and controls can be frustrating. Movement controls are fluid but your character doesn't always want to face the way you tell them when attacking. Also the animation while smooth is also clunky.

Sound is another issue. The voice samples sound like they're recorded at 11khz. They sound terrible.

If you want a good dungeon crawler, there are better options on old consoles, like Evolution or Persona. For retro fans, this isn't cool, just old.

Painfully boring

As an Adventure Time fan, I was really excited for this game to come out. I also got even more excited once I watched the trailer. Wrong--when I popped in the game, after the 3rd level of the dungeon I was already bored. Super repetitive gameplay and no challenge, plus my game kept crashing at level 5 so I gave up and sent it back. Don't waste your time.
