Ace Combat Zero is a good fun game but they went back to the boring way they tell the story. They made it the same as Ace Combat 4. It's not a deep story like in Ace Combat 5. There's not much cut scenes and there's only a few new aircraft compared to the last game. The game play is the same and so are the graphics. So there isn't alot of progress. But aside from that it's fun and new story. Depended on how you play the missions your either a mercenary, soldier, or knight. Your also awarded medals and there's alot of different colors scheme's for the planes. If your a fan of the series you will probably be a little disappointed but it's still worth renting. If you haven't played any game from the series before your in for a treat. If your still skeptical play Ace Combat 5 I recommend it over this one 100%.

When I firt popped this game into my PS, I thought "heck yeah, another in a great series". I've owned every one in the series and have always been happy with the steady improvement that each new one represents. But this time around its merely a continuation of the last one with nothing really new to speak of. There are minor changes, like the Ace rating system and the ability to choose between wasting a wounded jet or not, but other than that, its basically the same old same old. If you are an avid fan of the series like I am (I still play all of them) I'd say go ahead and buy it AFTER the price comes down, but other than that, its a good rental, easily beaten in a relatively short amount of time. Some things are better, like your wingman actually DOES help this time around, but no stunning new jets, no breathtaking graphics, just the occassional frustrating level, same weapons (the rocket launchers are STILL useless), control, and somewhat improved AI.
