At Gitmo, slackers aren't tolerated, and the unit is expected to clean up its own messes. This is especially true under the control of Col. Nathan Jessop (Jack Nicholson), who ordered two of his charges to deliver a Code Red to one of their own. It was supposed to scare him into behaving, but ended up killing him. The two marines are sent back to the mainland to face trial, where they are assigned the fast-talking, plea-bargaining Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise). Lt. Cmdr. JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore), another Navy lawyer, gets wind of the case and feels it deserves more than a quick resolution. The lawyers team up in this intense courtroom drama and discover they both have great talent and that the truth, no matter how difficult to handle, is worth any cost.
