After 50 Cent's last game --- and, well, his terrible attempts at rap --- there were few games I had lower expectations for than Blood on the Sand.
I have been proven wrong.
This is one of the most surprisingly fun games on the 360. Think The Club, but with much larger levels. It's not a deep game and the story is absurdly silly, but this game is already a front-runner for "surprisingly good game of the year". I guess it can be described as a more light-hearted and quicker-paced version of Gears of War.
Controls are easy and the camera is actually pretty good. The levels are broken up enough so that when you complete a difficult portion of the game, you are soon at a checkpoint, so while you will die on the higher difficulty levels fairly frequently, you will not have to backtrack over lengthy stretches of game, so it's not a major headache.
The music is, of course, G-Unit, so if you like it, it will be good. I am not fond of it, so it doesn't really do much for me.
Co-op play is actually pretty solid. It definitely makes the game much easier if you play with a friend...though the AI co-op partner is more than competent. It's not like some games where the co-op partner is amazing and can do most of the work for you, nor is it the type of AI where you have to baby-sit them every single step of the way.
There is nothing to make me say this game is not worth playing. It truly is a top-notch title, much to my surprise. You will not be bored by it. This game is very worth your time and it is very worth a rental.
