This was PC Gamer and IGN's Game Of The Year from 2001, and yes, it is brutally hard. Unlike later version of the Ghost Recon franchise that dialed the difficulty down, (I'm looking at you, GRAW,) this game is realistically unforgiving, and captured the essence of Tom Clancy's earlier works. Later games like Rainbow Six: Vegas may have watered down the essence of the origina in favor of flashier fare, but this game was the ne plus ultra when it was released.
