Very Good

Worth $10

I never did get to play this when it first came out because I knew that, at the time, my PC wouldn't run it properly. With the laptop I have now (n17x r4), I can play it and it really is worth the $10. Graphicly, it is still much like anything you would play on your ps3 or 360 and it offers multiple playing styles/control methods to get cozy with. The story is interesting and the hacking gameplay is really fun (if you like that sort of game). Bottom line, it's a fun adventure hack n slash that looks pretty and is quite inexpensive. Play it :)

When this RPG came out it 07 I passed on it mostly due to not being in to fantasy type games as they have no allure for me. Recently however I had the chance to grab this title for ten bucks and I figured what he heck if I don't like it I'll just delete it and forget about it. The game is powered by the Bioware Aurora engine and the mechanics of gameplay are a little odd and takes some time to adjust. One thing that is hard to get used to is the fact that hitting space bar in the game puts the game into active pause wherein you can then call up several screens to aid the Withcher in combat or learn something about a new character or monster or navigating the game world via a map or the journal entries that track the quest discoveries and makes notes of your progress in the game. This is a bit taxing since the interface and character abilities choices are extensive but the choices as to which attributes to develop for your Witcher are not that clear as to what abilities will benefit you the most. The screens are large and colorful but over sized and cluttered and not very enlightening. Combat is executed via simple L R mouse clicks that are furthered by watching a visual cue of your mouse cursor indicator lighting up with a flaming sword to indicazte to press the L button to string the next combo of blows and parrys providing you have bought the right abilities via talents you acquire as you level up. Odd indeed and it takes gettin used to and a sense of timing and anticipation to know when to press the button to be effective in combat. Be prepared for a bit of frustration when fighting poweful monsters or opponents and be prepared to get mowed down unless you learn how to concoct the Witchers special Alchemical brews to survive the heavy bosses. Another weirdness is the fact that sometimes you'll get penned in by the physical environment as experienced in the swamp. The last bad thing is the Witcher is super unstable with frequent crashes so save often.

I've only had this game for one day. I thought learning the unusual combat style would take some time and I was ready to be patient. But I'm already having a blast; this game rocks! Like I said, I've only had it one day so I don't know how it will go farther down the road but I don't hink it's hard to play at all. The graphics are fluid, the scene changes are not to long (as opposed to some games), and the story is awesome. Also, I appreciate a mature game that uses intelligence and has room for an open mind. And the way that choice have a real impact on how the game goes makes it far more intrigueing. I could go on and maybe I will once I've played some more but thus far this game is at the top of my list.
