IGN and Gamespot need to re-review this game

Now that this game has the full support Steam it's really making a comeback, Steam's current mandate is to update this game once a week it seems.

Fine by me, this game still has the occasional error but they are now small things like messed up text strings. Plus, in one straight week of playing (yeah, I gotta take a break for sun soon) I've had only one game crash.

Still I can register a few complaints to this game though, and being a fan of the original I'm actually being leniant. First of all the UI is cluttered, I had menus on top of menus, no buttons where I needed buttons, and their was a lack of description to the controls. I'm a player who likes to muck about in a game to learn the controls, but this was riddiculous, I had to look up definitions to words to find out what they did.

Second, the game lacks simple descriptions. While you can tell which weapon version is better, you can't tell what one weapon compares to another. This was failed due to the confusing graphs that have some secret formula to them.

Whatever, done with the cons

On the upside the game builds upon the last games ideas and makes it a more intruiging experience. Planets are now part of systems, which makes for more bases, easier alliances, and bigger battles. Fleets also use a new Admiral system, where your fleets are commanded by actual people. These Admirals can even add perks to your fleets and have diverse stats that matter.

My favorite new thing is actually the revision of the movement system. The new system requires specific objectives for a fleet to move, and also requires a space port for docking a fleet in a system. While annoying at first, this system can work to your advantage. Other players can't dock a huge fleet on your home world now becuase they have to go back for fuel and ammo. It adds an emphisis to the constuction part of the game, and really makes players think about their moves.

So with Steam working on the game I hope people come back
