I know sword of the stars may have kind of a bad rap based on the one terrible review it has, but I had never played the game before, and although it may seem a bit comple at first, eventually, you will get to the epic space battles shown in the trailer.
Sword of the Stars is one of my favorite strategy games because it is very interactve, epic, and combines the RTS, ship simulator space games with what can be rather dull turn based strategy games into something amazing.
I'm sorry this game has a bad rating but I guess mpre people just prefer Call of Duty, and there's nothing I can do about that.

After looking at some pictures and watching a few videos I thought this game would be pretty fun. I've been playing RTS games for about since StarCraft first came out and I absolutely love any game involving space ships. As usual I started out with the tutorial in which I found out that it is nothing more than a mock game with a few text windows on the side telling you the basics. And honestly that didnt help me one bit. The main screen is a simpley a star map and after about 20 minutes I figured out how to start research projects and design/build ships. Once built you send your ships to other stars and try to colonize them. Pretty boring so far right? I was really hoping for the combat portion to be good in this game, however I was sadly disappointed. At about turn 50 the enemy finally found me and I engaged him in combat. This game is so confusing and the tutorial is so lousy my ships sat there in space spinning in circles as the enemy flew around not even attacking. After 4 minutes the combat ended in a draw with not a single shot fired on either side. At that point I promptly quit the game and uninstalled it. If you have the patiences to figure this game out, good for you, I'm sure this is a decent game to play once you get the hang of it. Its got some cool elements to it but its not my cup of tea.
