Great game. Great, fatally buggy, game.

Split/Second is a really great game. Excellent graphics, smooth play on my relatively average PC. Excellent mechanics. One problem: the save game corrupts on the PC. It does this randomly, and it does it every time I've installed. Disney Interactive and the developers have never responded to this issue (probably because this is a console port), their one attempt to diagnose the problem with me ending with telling me to upgrade my sound card and drivers. Why, or how, a sound card driver can corrupt a save file, and why a game would have a single save file that's never backed up or duplicated before write, is just really, really bad programming. Really bad Chinese programming, actually, since on inspection of a (corrupted) save file with a hex editor, I found the contents were in Chinese.
So, caveat emptor on the PC with this game: it's a lot of fun, but you could make it to the episode before the grand finale only to start your game and find out that all of your progress is just gone. It's happened to me five times. Enough is enough - I'm buying Blur.
