It might just be the best strategy/war game of all time. There are hundreds of reviews online that will tell you why. All I can say is "Buy it!"

Best of the Total War series

posted by Augustous Dec 22, 2012

12-22-12, Currently On sale for $2.49. This was the game that convinced me to buy the rest of the series. The graphics are as good as they got in 2007. The game is stable, works on XP, and with a digital download you don't need the CD. This is a turn based conquest game, based on the time frame of Caesar. It allows you to control individual battles as a general from the battle map, and also control, in detail, your empire from the world map. The A I which controls the non player factions is based on " The Art of War " by Sun Su. Every effort was made to make maps and characters historically correct. This is a very polished game. It raised the bar for the rest of the P C game industry, when it came out. I have this game on CD and have spent 100's of hours enjoying it. I will pay $2.49 just to have a copy that doesn't need a CD. I have well over a hundred P C games. This is still one of my top 10 favorites, over 5 years later.

Balanced, fair game.

The game is well made, graphics are good, and the roman system of units is a little overpowered later on (Marius Reforms), but early on is when the romans are at their weakest. All the other factions have fair units, I always hate the barbs. with their stupid swordsmen. If you're looking for a fun strategy, RPG-ish game, this is the one for you!
