Red Faction 2 for PC Reviews by Gamers

I just installed this game from unlimitedplay or whatever and it just dings and stays black screen.. This is beta so im not to upset as they apalogized ahead of time.

it says it needs disc

this game wont let me play it cause it keeps asking me to put in disk one

if you open the document there is to applications you can run there is red faction 2 and rf2 run rf2 it works fine for me

I'm very glad that I got this for free on UPP. First, this game is nothing like the first RF. You start off as part of an elite team whose mission is to infiltrate a Red Faction base and do something. I say "something" because I didn't play more then 10 minutes of this game before uninstalling it.

Some people give this game a bad rating because the only option is adjusting the brightness, however, you need to go into the directory where the game is located and run the Red Faction II Launcher. It will allow you to set the graphical options among other things.

Another reason people give this game a bad rating is because they can't play it because the game asks for a disc. Here is what you do: Go onto google and download a no-cd patch, then install it. There. It's fixed.

It says i need the disk to run it

For everybody having the insert disc problem, you can't have any discs in your DVD drive at all or it will try and read that as the Red Faction game. (Coming from the Steam support section.) Anyways, the game is nothing like the first game. The game is split up into short little five minute mission sections, having to see a loading screen every five minutes is rather annoying. Since the missions are so short, there is a no quick save feature, just a level save feature, which will return you to the beginning of the level you were on. There is no optimization for PC, the only setting under video is "Brightness." At least Red Faction 1, you could change the texture quality. Another thing that disappointed me was from the lack of subtitles. I used the full captions in Left 4 Dead, and have used subtitles ever since. Also the framerate in the vehicle missions drops to unplayable. I drop from sixty to eight frames per second, like nothing. I have a Radeon HD 6850, I can max Metro 2033 on dx10, but not play an eleven year old game? Come on now. There is still health packs, but your health is semi-recoverable, aka bars of health, if your health goes down too much you'll lose that bar of health and not be able to recover it without a health pack. This is still favorable, and there is still a weapon wheel, but there is no concern over concerving ammo. Near the end of the first game, I had to make every bullet count, which was a nice survival trick, but this game throws ammo at you, like it's nothing. The plot line of Red Faction was typical, and not as unique as the first. The game is only on average six hours long, which is greater than the first, but still six hours of a butchered PlayStation 2 game, do you really want to play that?

i decided to download this game cuz i was looking for something to keep me occupied well the game isnt bad but when i went to start it said insert disc 1 well if you get the error message remove any disc u have in the drive and restart the game it should work

it is pretty obvious most users are having issues with this game and with the new prince of persia. send gamefly feeback! theres a better chance of them looking at feedback then a few user reviews

I have the original Red Faction and I wanted to try RF 2. Well, it asks for CD #2. So, if you have CD #2 available, go for it.

When I install the game it tells me to insert disk 1 of the game. I do not know why. I havn't been able to play this, so I can't give the best reveiwe of this.

I have played and beaten this game with no mention of 'insert disc'. Anyway, what do you want for nothing?

I downloaded the first one and it was amazingly fun so i decided to give the second a try. Every time I try to run it it says I need to insert a disc.
