This game is a pretty little package, especially for it's time, and i think Ubisoft really put a huge amount of effort into this one. I've played this game when it came out, but even coming back to it and playing it now on the second day of 2012, i'm impressed with how well the animations are done, where even games today have serious errors. The storyline and the way it keeps you hooked into it is a bit of an art form that is dying out with many game types, leading to delivery quests or grinding to get a level. Also, this game's mechanics seem to have led to the way they constructed another popular franchise by Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed. Now i'll break down the specs for this game:
-Graphics: Visually pleasing, with decent textures and modeling for gameplay. The cinematics look a bit dated, and i guess this was
before wide use of anti-aliasing and oversampling.
-Animations: Very fluid, in fact, i'd say these anims are a little more believable than some of the ones used in later Prince of Persia games.
-Story: It's truly an interesting story, and as we go further in we see some real development, in character and in plot. Though the bad guy was a tad obvious.
-Audio: Good music, and good voice actors help put you deep in the mood of the arabic setting, though the fact they all speak in english is only a slight curiousity. Subtitled language probably doesn't do too well in video games.
-Gameplay: If you like putting thought into how you're going to NOT get shredded up and sliced to bits, this is for you. It's much more involved than the average hack and slash, with dodging and blocking and vaulting, you have many options as to how to take on a large group of bad guys. The free-running is also very fluid, and it's even better in this game than some later Prince of Persia games. Very few bugs, i think i've run into only one. Completely acceptable by my standards.
Overall a fun game, definately worth the download.
