Wow,This is the most scariest game ive played it is more scary then dead space 1 and 2 it is more scary then nightmare house 2.

This game is the creator of Amnesia The Dark Descent. That game came right after this game. This is the greatest Penumbra game of its kind. It has a crazy monster that I REALLY DON'T WAN TO DESCRIBE. When you play you will find out. Here at gamefly its FREE!!!

When a bright white screen comes up when starting

There is a solution and I had to figure it out myself. When you are at the screen, press esc, and go to options then graphics. Click noise filter and bloom to turn them off and adjust the brightness after if needed. I dont know why but its stupid.

at first it was fine then i went to new game and nothing just a white screen i could hear it but i coudent see any thang ( i was wondering if i bought it if it would work...)

Having problems

It looks like an amazing game. I couldn't get it to start up at first, so I went under the game file in my documents and attempted to run it as an adminisrator through that.
It said my graphics card needed to be updated.
So I updated it and tried again.
The game worked.
BUT
You cant SEE anything, all I got was this white static when I tried playing the tutorial and when I go to the game it shuts down.

Ahhhh...I just got this game and have been looking forward to playing it, but it's unable to load. I'm able to startup but when it comes to actually playing this, I get a white screen...HELP...Is it not compatible with Windows 8?

i got to play this till i had to get off... when i tried to open it again it always says fatal error cannot load poiontlight2d abd i cant play it unless i reinstall it

Penumbra fix

I doubt this'll work for everyone, but if you have trouble playing Penumbra, try running the program from the folder it's in, rather than from the shortcut. Also, running it as administrator in compatibility mode for windows xp service pack 2 got it to run for me, but i still have to run it from the actual file location.

well at first I got it to install and I opened the menu and everything. but I tried to play it and the screen would show dialog but the actual gameplay was just a fuzzy white screen. it was weird. so I closed it and tried to re open and it keeps saying fatal error over and over again. so I uninstalled.

I can run Amnesia: The Dark Descent on the highest spec's, but I cant run this game, made by the same company several years before. Something must be wrong with the cliant , it was extremely frustrating just trying to get this game to run.

I get the same fatal error as the comment on the main page.

Gamefly would you please fix these? All of the games I downloaded but one wouldn't run on my laptop. I have an Alienware M14x R4 so there's really no reason they shouldn't work.

6 out of 7 is bad. Please fix these or stop advertising the service because it's just frustrating otherwise.

wouldnt open after i tried changing the resolution. kept getting fatal error. .. then froze my computer :(
since i couldnt really play it i have no idea how good or bad it is. I do wish though that these reviews and information about the games that are available for dl would say if a controller option is available. I really hate using the keyboard!

Penumbra Black Plague is a very scary, mind twisting game that makes you scared to turn around a corner without shaking a little bit. the atmosphere of the game is very creppy and dark, and the mystery of the game makes you want to keep playing to find out more and more answers to questions you find along the way.

I have jumped, yelled, threw my mouse, etc due to this game. It's a great game, But a little difficult at times(Puzzles, getting from a to b while being chased, ETC.) I highly reccomend it though...

256 mb video
windows 7 home prof
3gb ram
400 gb HDD.

Don't see any issies. Have gotten lag at times due to my graphics card, but 3/4 of the time it will not lag.

The game is virtually unplayable. The lad is so bad that it takes a few seconds just to turn. Imagine making one of those stories that you draw on cards and flip through, now imagine waiting a few seconds before flipping each card, same effect.
