Good

Good but not Great

Having finished my first run of ME3 I am left lost and confused. Don't want to spoil it, but the ending is bad...and leaves a bad impression. Can't go to much into it since it might spoil it. The game it self is good. Combat is top notch, lots of gun play and sniping a guys head off is always fun ;). The story is also good, get to meet a few faces from ME1 and ME2. The conversation is not has involved as ME2... you don't have too many choices to pick from like in ME1 and 2...which feels strange. Not sure where the game went wrong...or why some of the things we were told we would get are not there...for a series that says every decision is important... it comes down to meaning nothing at the end. After DA2 and ME3...not sure what has happened to Bioware. Until they fix the ending...I cant give it a getter rating.

Awesome game, awful ending

I would highly recommend that you play Mass Effect 2 before you play this game, as this is a series where choices you have made in the previous games can have a significant impact on the story you experience in this game. ME3 is way better if you play with a save imported from 2.

Now, with that out of the way, we can talk about ME3. It is difficult to overstate how great the story for ME3 really is. There are several points during the story where I had to stop and think about the possible ramifications of my decisions before choosing, and a couple points where the result of my "right" decision was truly painful to watch. The opening cutscene had me hooked almost instantly and the beginning of the end sequence may just be about the most epic thing I have ever seen.

The combat improves upon the groundwork laid down in 2, although if you play in "Narrative" mode, it is super easy, while still being satisfying. The weapons upgrade system is also better than it was in 2 and a lot more customizable to ones preferred playstyle.

If I had to describe in one word the difference between ME3 and the previous games it would be "streamlined". Planet scanning is gone, replaced by a system that can scan multiple planets in a system. The bypass/hack minigame that was in 2 and 1 is gone as well(it was really only fun the first 100 times you did it anyways lol) replaced with a slightly longer player animation.

Side missions unrelated to the main story are pretty much gone as well and the remaining side missions are both fun and important to the main narrative.

Sadly, all of this awesomeness really falls apart at the end. 99% of the game is great, but may be completely ruined by the last 1%. Still, I maintain that this is a fantastic game in a fantastic series and I highly recommend that you get it. (but only if you play ME2 first)

hating ending

the last 15min of the game actualy ruin the entire series. Nothing done in the past really matters, so many question, too many plot holes and no choice of ending. (You got 3x 95% the same ending minus around 10sec of different scene. There is no really good or really bad ending.) After completing ME3 I sat down depress, frustrated to see that all my over 60hours of gaming through the series end like THAT..., it destroyed any wish to replay. THINK IM ALONE? THERE IS TENS OF THOUSAND OF PLAYER LIKE ME UNITING THEMSELF ON SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK TO PROTEST AND GET NEW ENDING FROM BIOWARE. After that, i got to say that i enjoyed the game until the last 15min. Graphic, sound and main story are great but theres lots of plots hole in mid game and incredible ones at the end but can't tell without spoiling. To conclude just think: when 15 minutes ruins not only a single game but an entire series, enraging fan world wide and make them mobilised against the company created it, there is a serious problem.

Mass Effect 3 did not disappoint

The graphics were excellent, gameply was challenging just enough to not make me fraustrated. I did get a little tired of cut-scenes, if I wanted to watch a movie I would have bought a DvD.

This was in alignment with the Mass Effect Series though in carrying on the story line. The characters were good. I liked the controls and having missions to accomplish as well.

"if your not a mass effect fan, now is the time to start playing " , after i read that quote, i got way into the trilogy.

Several months of playing the franchise, just played from july to current , including imported ME 1, 2 to 3, the characters realities are quite unique , depending on what choices you make , obviously of course , create an alternate reality. Dialogue, plot and universe is so fun.
runs great on my pc. :)

Here's my first review of this horrible "game." I write game in quotes because right now it's an idea... not an actual game that exists on my PC. I would like it to be. I just paid for it... however, after purchasing Mass Effect 3, I get a message that says my order is still being processed. HUH? Why did the order actually go through if there was an issue with my credit card? What's being processed and who is doing it? Are there gnomes loading each MB into the data stream of the Interwebs? When I purchase a game on STEAM, the data is somehow available to download right away! That's the whole point of buying a game to download. This would never happen on STEAM. F - GameFly. You missed the mark on the game download experience.

Great Game

People who complain about the ending don't know what they're talking about. The story was wrapped up and the solution was made. It may not have been exactly what was expected but the knot was indeed tied. There were some unanswered side plots (i.e. krogan species future under the leadership of Wrex or Wreav) but other than that, the game ended great. I've replayed the entire series many times to gain multiple experiences in the storyline and I've always had a blast and grown to love the characters. I've never been so, for lack of a better word, emotionally involved in a storyline such as the one in ME series

I gave it 10 rating but I do have a huge problem with the way EA tried to make extra money by only allowing good ending if you play multiplayer (and pay money) or play iPhone/iPad game (apple money). Really, shame on you EA. Fortunately there are ways to get your galactic readiness level to 100% without the need for neither - just search around the bay.

If you have a high final score, the ending is awesome as is the game itself. It stinks that the paragon/renegade means nothing at the end, but oh well.

True rating would be 9.5

For, me the opening scene with the little boy being killed was very emotional, and added a sense of realism to the game like you mite have actully been there. The graphics were above average, and i must say i only incountered 1 bug in the whole game. It was kinda cool having an interactive charater both in combat and in scenry, with plenty of movie shots. kinda of made it hard to tell if you were watching a movie or playing a game. I must agree with the others that the ending was vague and i dont think i undstood what happened, can could have left more closure. But i do give this game a thumbs up, for one of the better games out there. One thing that kinda of annoyed me was that you had to fight a battle constanly at each planet, which some were difficult and time consuming. But i guess thats why its a game. Also i thinki that EDI lady should show the commader how to mofify weapons and armor as this was not very clear for a new user like me. The music was very good, however if you make a newer game i suggest you add strippers to the Bar scene, and perhaps even a pay per click $1 dollar deducted from your paypal account if she strips. Also could have had Male strippers as well.

Was a good game though and i plan on purchasing the collectors edtion

An Amazing Conclusion to the Unforgettable Series

posted by Hyggelik (PANTEGO, TX) Mar 12, 2012

ME3 is in short, everything amazing about the first two games, with all the tedium taken out. With an incredibly poignant story that wraps up the series, intense fast paced action that makes you feel like a true N7 agent, beautiful cut scenes and voice acting, with fun (albeit short lived) multiplayer thrown in as an added bonus. If you enjoyed or even played the other ME games, this is an absolute MUST play! If you are new to the series you won't be disappointed either, but will be missing much of the sometimes tear jerking, sometimes heart pounding moments that come with wrapping up your relationships built over the last two games. My only complaint is that the game went by too fast, I burned through all content and maxed multiplayer in less than three days. Other than that. Absolutely perfect!

Amazing but with some very basic flaws

The story is great, I love the way the missions transition. It is as if you are playing a movie not a video game. The game is not short, especially if you play on hard. Insanity was ridiculous I don't even know why that is an option. The biggest problem was the controls. I hate trying to dodge an enemies blow just to get stuck against a wall and get killed over, and over, and over. And there is no moral grey area in this game like they advertised. You still need to either be a good guy or a bad guy to unlock all the options. I loved the game though I'm sad it's all over now.
