Very Good

Great Game, not good on windows 7

I've been playing this since it first came out, the first two fallout games are the best even though the more modern ones are more popular. I've loved playing this game until recently, when I upgraded to windows 7. when you play the game, the colors are all messed up and it doesn't work properly. The good thing is that there are patches on the internet for that, but most people will just complain to gamefly and not look up the patches. I highly suggest this game unless you have windows 7, in which case you should download the patches. Don't post a bad review because it didn't work for you, it's not like you had to pay for this game specifically.

I dont know if its bad bc ive only had new generation fallouts and the computer ones now are first persons =. it is ok if u like to play older games or point and clicks.

its a good game story is ok gameplay good but it has alot of lag after 20-30 mins prefer the newer fallouts

DO NOT BUY THIS. The game installs fine , loads fine, and actually runs. But if you are going to charge people either a membership fee, or 9.99 to own it, at least make sure the game will run. lol. Not even the fallout icon on desktop, its some guys fat face..Ok besides that. The thing lags so bad I can't even play it, I can deal with graphics glitches colors etc but the thing chugs along its like it pauses every half second. Very annoying. I can't believe they are even able to charge people for it.

Common GameFLy, Were Paying For This Service. None of the older Free to play PC games work. Even some of the new ones have problems causing them to be unplayable. FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Missing the original (ddraw.dll) that came with the software.

NOTE > the (ddraw.dll) controls the pixelated and color issues. On (ALL systems x32 and x64 win 95 - Win 8 x64) under the 16bit color mode.

This is also a small problem if you are running the sfall (screen resolution changer)

Windows 7 fix

Running on Win7 causes terrible graphical errors and subsequent lagging and crashes. Download these patches in order.

1. Download 1.2 patch here:

Instructions are included with file. Extract patch to: C:\Users\"YourPCname"\Documents\Gamefly\games\Interplay\Fallout

2. Download HiRes patch here:
nma-fallout.com/forum/dload.php?action=file&file_id=1426

Again, follow included instructions. Extract patch to same folder as above.
Running F1 in 1920x1080, 16 bit colors and 60 Hz refersh rates perfectly. Hope this helps.

This game looks great, but the FPS and graphics glitches ruined it for me, didn't even really get a chance to play it.

the game seems good but the fps is so low i cant stand it... i love follout and wanted to play the origanal, but the fps ruin it. and whenever i exit out i have to restart my computor to do anything else

This may be one of those games that everyone has to play. Great story, great setting, great characters. If you get the chance and have some time to kill, play this game, even though it is an old game. You will enjoy it!

I do belive this game is good but i cant play it. I down load it under the pc renter an it is glitching very badly. I play the 3rd an new vegas an i wanted to play the first games.

This is one of my all time favorite games. I didn't read the reviews before I downloaded it....huge error on my part. It crashed within minutes after starting the campaign. The second time I tried, I wound up having to hard boot my system. I was so looking forward to playing this game too... :( One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is to create a new character with low luck, bloody mess and jinxed just to see how long it takes for my character melt into a pile of goo after punching a rat!!! Ahh...good times, good times.

Pretty much everyone has heard of the fallout series. Most talk about fallout 3 and fallout new Vegas but This started it all. A Must play, It has great dark humor , Turn based combat, Strategy, Great story, Good graphics for a old game, Tons of places to explorer.

Also,After your first play through, i would recommended downloading Fallout: Restoration Project And Fallout 1 high res mod.

Theses mods really improve the game play by adding a tone of new areas and features.

Classic!

Still one of the best RPGs of all time. I never tire of creating characters and playing through this or Fallout 2. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are wonderful in their own right, but I still think the first two games are the best of the series. A spectacular world to get lost in, full of interesting characters, a great story, and plenty of random events. I will never forget this game.

If you have issues with graphics/color corruption like I did, here's the fix.

Open notepad and paste the following:

taskkill /F /IM Explorer.exe
falloutw.exe
Start explorer.exe

Once that is done, save it as "falloutw.bat" and put it in the fallout directory with the falloutw.exe. This is a batch file that will turn off the explorer every time you start the game and turn it back on once you end it, which should fix the color isssues.

Also, if you're interested, there's also a high resolution patch available. Just search for "Fallout HD patch" and you shouldn't have trouble finding it.

I too can't play this game because the screen turns black. Is this a video card issue??
I can't seem to figure it out.
Other games play just fine.
